LANA GATTO

Needlework has been our thing for over a century

From knitting balls to crochet yarns, from fashion patterns to explanations for easy knitting: welcome to our world of fashion and style.

It was the beginning of the 20th century when the head of a white angora cat with long whiskers and emerald green eyes, inserted in a circle with the inscription 'Filatura e Tessitura di Tollegno - Biella', peeped into the world of needlework, attracting the attention of the Italian market and, in the short term, the international one. Thus was officially born our trademark 'Lana Gatto', which, conceived by Daniele Schneider - managing director of the Filatura di Tollegno - was then registered in 1908.

From that date began our rise in which the changes in Italian culture, art and style were reflected. Over the years, the balls of merino wool, cotton, alpaca and mohair Lana Gatto have given life to refined or playful, casual or elegant knitwear that ladies made and sported on different occasions of the day, while, at the same time, our symbol inspired CREATIVES AND ADVERTISERS who dedicated campaigns, reviews and the first calendars to it.

However, our brand has also represented much more: with its single-brand shops, it has witnessed the vicissitudes of the country, generational changes and the fashions that have followed one another over the years, remaining a POINT OF REFERENCE FOR THE TRICOT SECTOR, made with products made in Italy, yesterday as today.

Our history is marked by the thousands of colourful yarns in the fashion collections that have followed one another season after season, the different types of knitting, the techniques for making cardigans, dresses, shawls and accessories, the innovative fashion designs and the constant search for new products.
